Gabriel Welch
Gabriel Welch was born with a pencil in hand. He was raised in Visalia,
California where his parents were involved in clown ministry and his
father was a local artist. Gabriel's nickname was "Doodles the Clown"
because of his constant doodling. He has been self-taught since his
early years using comic books as his inspiration for his technique. He
attended College of the Sequoias as an Art major and started working with different mediums including sculpting, print making, oil painting, and finally leading to a culmination of mixture of acrylic, aerosols and oils.
Gabriel
is an expressive artist painting from life experiences and parts of his philosophy
can be seen throughout his
pieces. From 2001 to current he has been developing a playful aerosol
style and continues to create beautiful canvas works. He has
painted numerous murals which can be seen around the valley including:
Alejandra's Mexican restaurant in Visalia,
Mooney Ink Tattoo parlor in visalia, and Monet's Cafe in exeter to name a few. Gabriel has
volunteered his time helping kids at the YMCA to paint murals of the
sequoia trees and gives motivational speeches at elementary schools. He did a live painting at the Juxtapoz issue release
party at Club 6 in San Francisco.
Gabriel is the founder of StarGaze Mafia, an artist driven clothing
line and toy manufacturer. Gabriel Welch is a traveler of life leaving
his footprints in each piece he creates.
